Two ways of counting in Korean  how to say Years, Months, Weeks and Days.

한자   Memorizing Vocabularies through Hanja I found a great way to memorize vocabularies. It is through  Hanja 한자  not exactly about Chinese characters but about their meaning Most of the Korean vocabularies are influenced by Hanja, so knowing a great amount of Hanja is pretty useful in learning Korean. If you know well enough you would be able to atleast guess what a word means correctly. I can't explain it well so I'll give examples how it will be easy to memorize vocabularies with Hanja. Each Hanja characters have meanings, if you know what they mean it will be probably easy to guess what a word means for example: 학 (學)  = 배우다/공부하다 (To learn/Study) Words that it can build: 학 교(學校)  = School 학 습(學習) = Learning/Study (Korean study 한국어 학습) 학 자(學者) = Scholar 학 원(學院) = Academy As you can see they all have 학 and they are all connected to studying and learning. now we can take the second 한자 from "학교(學校) = School " and learn new sets for wo...

안녕하십시오, 안녕하십니까? 잘 하시네요?! What the hell does 시 means?!  To make a the long idea short, you add 시 when the person you are talking about deserves respect. I was confused too... I thought adding 요 and ~ㅂ니다 is all you need to show respect. The thing is, you use 시 when the person you are talking about deserves the respect. for example you want to say that your father went home already You add (으)시 to the stem of the verb/adjectives 우리  아버지는 집에 이미 갔어요.  Even though you have put 요 This will be rude to say. You will want to give respect to your father by putting 시 우리  아버지는 집에 이미 가셨어요. 가다 => 가시다  갔다=> 가셨다  more example 형이 저한테 한국어를 가르치주셨어요. 형 Taught me Korean. 잘하시네요! - You did well! same meaning with (잘하네) but a lot more polite. Note: I have highlighted this and mentioned this a lot but you only use 시 when talking to a person that deserves respect. You won't be getting anywhere without these   From Wikipedia You will just confuse yourself if you try to learn Korean without Hangul       The first thing I have done before learning Korean is learning Hangul and how it was made. I'm not going to teach Hangul in here or talk about Hangul history. This is about telling you to go learn Hangul. Hangul isn't that hard to learn. I have learned Hangul in less than 5 hours, It is possible so with everyone to learn it too for a short amount of time. Although of course it wont be perfect as there are more pronunciation rules, but it is better than not knowing it. Hangul characters doesn't have the exact counterpart for English alphabet, so it is really useless to try on relying on English alphabet when learning Korean Language.
